"The text service allows people to recycle materials 'on the move'. If you're on holiday in the UK and want to keep up the good work you do at home, it's now quick and easy to locate your nearest recycling site"

Stratford-upon-Avon, England: Valpak announced
recently, that its recycling information web site recycle-more.co.uk, has launched a new text service to provide recycling information.
By texting 'waste' or 'elec' and a postcode to 60060 from anywhere in the UK, you receive a reply with details of where you can recycle a whole range of waste materials from plastic milk bottles to old toasters, according to the organisation.
On testing the service, the MoreThanWaste editor received detail of a local site, almost in advance of receiving speedy acknowledgment of the text request – showing how quick the new text service is.

The text service is “another string in the bow” for recycle-more.co.uk, a site which has already received over 3 million hits in 2007. Valpak describes the site as an educational resource, with recycling games for kids and detailed explanations of recyclable materials and packaging symbols.
recycle-more's web manager Sam Blades said:
“The text service allows people to recycle materials 'on the move'. If you're on holiday in the UK and want to keep up the good work you do at home, it's now quick and easy to locate your nearest recycling site. It also gives those without internet access a convenient way to find recycling facilities”.
Sam and the recycle-more team will be attending the National Boat, Caravan and Outdoor Show on the 19-24 February 2008 at the NEC and welcome folk wanting to chat or perhaps win some great prizes.
The text number is up and running now, and VALPAK says that people can text 60060 for the information they need on waste and electronic recycling points.
Steve Gough, CEO of Valpak, the UK's largest compliance scheme, commented:
'I am thrilled to see the launch of yet another valuable recycling tool. Any service which raises awareness and improves access to recycling is to be welcomed'.
