Veolia acquires C & C Recycling (14/04/2008)

London, UK:  Veolia Environmental Services (UK) Plc recently announce the acquisition of North West-based recycling company, C & C Recycling Ltd.

The acquisition of C & C Recycling is seen as a further important move by Veolia in the commercial waste recycling market and in line with its strategy of developing national network of strategically located commercial recycling facilities in the UK.

The company says that, "As well as increasing Veolia’s critical mass of paper and cardboard, the decision significantly strengthens its recycling infrastructure in the North West where it already has a strong commercial presence".

Veolia Environmental Services is a UK waste management market leader and employs around 13,000 people nationwide, serving over 16 million residents.

The company is the only worldwide provider of a full range of services for handling solid and liquid waste, according to Veolia.

Bury based C & C Recycling Ltd - with 50 employees - processes over 70,000 tonnes of paper and cardboard per annum and collects 80% of its material from commercial customers throughout the North West.

Jean-Dominique Mallet, CEO of Veolia Environmental Services (UK) Plc said:

“This strategic acquisition is another important development in our plans to strengthen our position as a major player in the commercial waste recycling market. It follows the successful acquisition of Midlands-based Hollands Recycling Ltd. and will further extend our pre-treatment compliance solutions in the light of recent Government legislation, as well as boosting our internal recycling capacity.”
