Regulation

RegulationWaste regulations are enforced in England and Wales by the Environment Agency, in Scotland by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and in Northern Ireland by the Environment and Heritage Service. Whilst standards of waste operations have increased considerably in the last decade, the various Agencies still need to take enforcement action on a relatively frequent basis against individuals and companies that flout waste management law. The requirements of Producer Responsibility have placed additional duties on these Agencies.
