CIWM News – The Institution takes on new media partner (14/09/2008)

Northampton:  The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) has appointed its media partner for Futuresource (i.e. Future Resource), the Institutions June 2009 meeting for waste management professionals.

The event is organised by CIWM in partnership with the Environmental Services Association (ESA).  The event incorporates the CIWM conference which was held in Torbay for many years, though its new venue should attract even more visitors.

Marketed as ‘Europe’s sustainability event’, it is expected that this will become a key annual conference and exhibition for companies and professionals dealing with waste and resources.

The name of the event reflects the fact that the future is about managing resources to minimise the production of wastes, and sustainably managing those wastes that do arise.  The waste sector is now expanding rapidly beyond its traditional boundaries, according to CIWM.

The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) is the leading professional body for the waste management sector representing over 7000 individuals in the UK and overseas. Established in 1898, CIWM is a non profit-making organisation, dedicated to the promotion of professional competence among waste managers.

CIWM enables the  raising of standards in sustainable waste management by producing best practice guidance, developing educational and training initiatives, and providing information on key waste-related issues.

Launched less than eight years ago, Letsrecycle.com is the successful organisation to partner CIWM and the ESA.  The online waste management news organisation is well known for a number of other products including the annual Forward Look conference, run jointly with the Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group.

CIWM Chief Executive Steve Lee said:

“We are delighted to be working with leading information provider letsrecycle.com on Futuresource. As a key media partner, they will play an important role in promoting the event to a wide audience and establishing it as the essential diary date for sustainable waste and resource management professionals across the UK, Europe and farther afield.”

Letsrecycle.com’s managing director Steve Dickinson commented:

“Our appointment by CIWM to help it grow Futuresource is a significant development for us and supports the move by CIWM and the Environmental Services Association (ESA) to deliver just what the sector wants – a flagship international event located in the right place for visitors and competitively priced for exhibitors."
