Recycling

RecyclingThe reclamation and recycling of waste materials is an important part of Government policy and is a statutory requirement for local authorities in the case of household wastes, which is linked also to landfill reduction targets through the local authority trading scheme (LATS). In addition to aiding the mitigation of global warming effects, recycling of materials such as metals and plastics also contributes to the conservation of natural resources for the use of future generations, which is in accordance with the basic principles of sustainability.
