First Director for WRAP Scotland Appointed (09/01/2008)

Banbury, Oxon., England:  WRAP  announced yesterday that it has appointed Frank Mulgrew as its first Director for Scotland. The organisation says that the appointment builds on the support WRAP has provided to the Scottish Government for the last 5 years in delivering the National Waste Plan for Scotland.

The creation of this new position is a positive statement in response to the Scottish Government’s commitment to waste minimisation and recycling, according to WRAP(Waste & Resources Action Programme).

Frank Mulgrew is an experienced strategic manager, arriving from the position of Consultant Director of the Programme Delivery Support Unit, Northern Ireland; a unit co-sponsored by the Department of the Environment and the Strategic Investment Board.  Prior to that he held key roles with the Shropshire Partnership was Director of Environment and Consumer Protection, Dundee City Council and before that worked for a number of years in the private sector.

“I'm delighted to announce that Frank Mulgrew has joined us as WRAP’s new Director for Scotland, with effect from Monday 7th January.  Frank has held senior positions in both the public and private sectors and brings a wealth of experience to the role.  He will be establishing a dedicated WRAP office in Scotland, which will be funded by the Scottish Government.”

Frank Mulgrew’s appointment is considered essential in addressing the needs of a growing Scottish audience across the business community, within the Local Authorities and Scottish Parliament.  He will be joining WRAP’s Executive Team reporting directly to the Chief Executive.

Mr Mulgrew will be responsible for delivering WRAP’s first Business Plan for Scotland, though an early priority will be to set up and run the WRAP Scottish office.
