A sub-committee of the House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee is to look at sustainable approaches to waste reduction.
The sub-committee will make an assessment of the ways in which products and production processes can be made more sustainable and therefore produce less waste.
Lord O'Neill of Clackmannan will Chair the inquiry.
Evidence on a range of questions has been invited and witnesses are being asked by the Select Committee to focus on those issues of which they have particular knowledge or experience.
Questions fall under a number of broad categories as follows:·
- Better design and the use of materials
- Business framework·
- Government policy·
- Consumer behaviour·
- Skills

The deadline for submitting written evidence is Monday 22 October 2007. The Committee will hold public meetings from late autumn and the Committee's report will be published in the summer of 2008.
