TEG shows significant turnover increase
TEG Group appears to be going from strength to strength despite consecutive years financial losses. Turnover was up by in excess of 600% in 2006 to £3.5m and in addition an estimated £35m contract is looking good for construction of 4 plants in Greater Manchester.
TEG which has its head office in Bamber Bridge, Preston announced reduced pre-tax losses from £1.67m in 2005 to £1.44m last year.
Mick Fishwick, Chief Executive at TEG said:
"We are building a company which is going to be turning over £50m in the near future, so neither the company nor the shareholders are looking at the bottom line figures at the moment."
Mr Fishwick indicated that the work done over the last couple of years was now starting to bear fruit and the company would be focussing over the next few years on continued growth in an expanding market.
In addition to taking on new staff at Bamber Bridge, TEG has finished work on its largest facility so far at Todmorden, West Yorkshire. This is due to be commissioned this coming April.
Re-appointment of five Commissioners to the Sustainable Development Commission
The UK Government and Devolved Administrations announced last week that four Commissioners – Rebecca Willis (Vice Chair Policy); Bernard Bulkin (Energy & Transport); Hugh Raven (Scotland); and Tim Jackson (Economics) - have been re-appointed to the Sustainable Development Commission for a further three year period until March 2010.
Alice Owen (Local & Regional) has been re-appointed for a further four years until March 2011.
All five Commissioners were initially appointed by the Prime Minister to the UK Sustainable Development Commission in March 2004.
In accordance with the guidelines issued by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments, Jonathon Porritt, Chairman of the Commission, completed a performance appraisal of each with input from Defra, Whitehall , other public, private or third sector stakeholders. All were recommended for re-appointment.
Ian Pearson, Minister of State for Environment, said:
“The Sustainable Development Commission's role as the Government's independent advisor, advocate, and watchdog is central to moving sustainable development action plans forward across Government. Commissioners' knowledge and expertise, and their working relationships with Departments, have a key part to play in this process.”

WEEE producer registration deadline looming
The deadline for producers of waste electrical and electronic equipment to register with Producer Compliance Schemes is almost upon us. WEEE producers should register by Thursday 15 March 2007.
The Environment Agency has urged companies that produce, rebrand or import electrical and electronic equipment to sign up with an approved compliance scheme by the deadline.
Following on rapidly from this date, each compliance scheme will then have until 31 March 2007 to register its members with the relevant environment agency, which will issue each producer with a producer registration number. The producer will need to give this registration number to anyone who distributes or sells their products.
The Environment Agency has already started work on the design of the approval process for WEEE Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities (AATFs) and is targeting mid-March for completion with receipt of applications anticipated from 1 April, 2007.
