A consultation document has been issued by the LGA aimed at local authority planning officers in relation to greening development through the planning system. Model policies are provided for inclusion in strategic plans such as within the local development framework.
The document covers a range of planning and development issues including those relating to waste and resource management:
- cutting waste and making more efficient use of materials in construction
- increasing recycling of household and commercial waste
Other issues covered include:
- cutting carbon emissions
- more efficient use of water resources
- protection of and enhancing natural features, habitats and wildlife
