 | A key EC Directive currently is the Landfill Directive which requires diversion of considerable tonnages of biodegradable municipal waste (BMW) from landfill. Government has tackled this through its National Waste Strategy and considerable strides have been made towards achieving EC targets through the efforts of all the stakeholders involved. However this is only one of a range legislative controls affecting the waste industry which has been said to be the most highly regulated industry in the UK. Legislation news is summarised below and you can use the links provided to gain further insight into legislative issues. |
