Agrivert in compost giveaway for Compost Awareness Week (01/05/2008)

Oxfordshire, England, UK:   Agrivert, in conjunction with Cherwell District Council and South Oxfordshire District Council, is distributing free compost to the general public across Oxfordshire as part of Compost Awareness Week (4th – 10th May 2008), according to an announcement by the company yesterday.

Agrivert will also be making compost available to allotments across Oxfordshire during May as part of a campaign to highlight the successful composting story.

“We are delighted to be supporting the eighth national Compost Awareness Week,” said Alexander Maddan, MD of Agrivert.  “Agrivert has worked closely with Cherwell District Council and South Oxfordshire District Council to return composted green waste to the general public that will both raise awareness of the benefits of using compost made from recycled green waste and increase general environmental awareness.”

Compost Awareness Week - introduced into the UK by The Composting Association - is aimed at encouraging people to recognise the benefits of composting, including the considerable benefits that can be obtained by using peat-free composts containing recycled material.

Oxfordshire is now composting over 46,000 tonnes of green waste per annum, supported by Agrivert, according to the company

“This achievement is worth celebrating,” commented Harry Waters, Director of Sales and Marketing, Agrivert.  “Composting on this scale is having a very significant positive impact on the environment and Oxfordshire should be congratulated for its enthusiastic commitment to its organic recycling programme.”
