Expressions of Interest Sought in the Use of Quality Compost Within Landscape and Regeneration.
Closing date: 21/12/2007
Do you use or specify the use of compost in landscaping, construction, soil manufacture, regeneration or other projects?
Over the past few years there has been significant growth in compost use within the UK:
1463kt of compost were used as soil conditioner during 2005/06*, as compared with 722kt during 2003/04
138kt of compost were used in topsoil manufacture during 2005/06*, as compared with 68kt during 2003/04
(* indicates provisional data)
WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) support has been made available for projects examining the use of compost in areas such as: turf production, rootzones, landscape mulches and top-dressings, soil manufacture (creating topsoils by using on site soil-forming materials such as colliery shale, steel slag and subsoil), establishing biomass crops on former landfill, and encouraging native habitats on mined land.
The team are now building on their experience to develop a wider research, demonstration and training programme to explore the benefits of Quality BSI PAS100 compost. This programme of support is due to run throughout the UK from Spring 2008 to Spring 2011, and we would really value your input in its development.
