Nottingham City Council set to reject Eastcroft efw expansion (news in brief) (15/09/2006)

Nottinghamshire City Councillors look set to reject a planning application from Waste Recycling Group  for an expansion of the Eastcroft efw plant.

Planning officers have recommended rejection in a report to be considered by the Development Control Committee on 20 September, even though expansion of the plant had been planned into its original design.

Up to four lines for waste processing had been envisage back in the 1970s when the plant was originally constructed.  Waste Recycling Group had wanted to add a third line to the Eastcroft incinerator capable of dealing with an additional 100,000 tonnes of waste each year.

This would have raised the capacity from 150,000 tonnes to 250,000 tonnes and would have also involved improving the appearance of the buildings and chimney.
