‘Oscar’ Win for TwinBin (04/07/2008)

Corsham, England, UK:  LINPAC Environmental recently succeeded in winning the prestigious Plastics Industry Award for the Best Industrial Product of 2008 with its innovative design of the new TwinBin product.

The TwinBin wins a design 'Oscar'.

The award was announced at the Park Lane Hilton in London at the industry ‘Oscars’ - the highlight of the year for the polymer industry.  Other finalists were Detectortesters, No Climb Products Ltd, and Hi-Tech Design Ltd.

The TwinBin design provides a "unique solution" to the problem of collecting general waste as well as separately collected recyclable items like plastic bottles and newspapers, discarded by the public. LINPAC says that this is achieved in a single compact and robust unit in a design that is WRAP compliant and sits well in both traditional and contemporary High Streets.

General Manager for LINPAC Environmental Simon Knights said:

“We are delighted that the TwinBin design has been recognised by The Plastics Industry Awards, widely recognised throughout the industry as a sign of being the best of the best!”

“We are particularly excited by the TwinBin product as it ties in so neatly with DEFRA’s ‘Recycling on the Go’ initiative. This recently announced government project is focusing on increasing the amount of street litter that is recycled.”

Further Information

The TwinBin

The TwinBin contains two 85 litre liners and achieves exceptional strength and rigidity from its double skin moulding and the LINPAC-patented hexagon kiss point method of construction, which eliminates the untidy routed edges which are often encountered on single skin moulding, according to the company.

Additional features of the TwinBin include those to deter vandals; a ribbed surface to discourage fly-posting, a concealed hinge on the door and a four-point door lock engagement system to prevent anyone from bending or prising open the corners of the door.

The unit can be kept in position using internal concrete or gravel ballast, fitted by the customer at time of installation or for a more permanent option, the unit can be bolted down using the moulded-through fixing holes in the bin base. A system of moulded-in stiffening ribs eliminates the need for the ground anchor plates conventionally used on single skin mouldings.

TwinBin is part of a comprehensive range of litter and recycling solutions provided by LINPAC Environmental for Local Government, Education Retail and Commercial organisations, for further information visit www.linpac-environmental.com.
