"Wise About Waste is all about finding sustainable solutions to dealing with the problem of waste. There is a lot of good work going on in waste management and recycling and this extra funding will help to support these efforts"

The Welsh assembly has allocated £1.1m to help improve the management of municipal wastes in Wales. The drive is to support the full implementation of the national waste strategy, Wise About Waste.
Eight projects will benefit from the Assembly's funding.
A variety of operations will be supported including providing home composting bins, establishing facilities to treat and dispose of residual municipal waste, support for the community recycling sector and collecting and recycling mercury.
Benefiting projects
The following projects will benefit from the additional funding:
- Pembrokeshire Council - £125,000 to develop residual municipal waste treatment facility.
- Swansea Council - £250,000 for joint procurement initiative with Carmarthenshire Council to develop waste treatment facility. The initiative could potentially include collaborations with other authorities in South West Wales and complements the project in Pembrokeshire.
